Blog Hop (6) & Follow Friday (5)

Friday already? This week flew by. And with it the most anticipated release of Last Sacrifice. Is it weird that I'm on book three and I bought it (while jumping up and down) on Tuesday? I've already got the rest of the series and I'm hoping the books get better as they progress. But enough of my strangeness. Follow Friday is here and I'm pumped. Or maybe I just had too much sugar earlier..

Follow My Book Blog Friday is another weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View. It's a great and easy way to meet other book bloggers and find out more about them through the weekly question. This week's is:
Do you have an under-noticed author that you think we should all know about?
My answer: Hmmmm. I like the question, but I'm not sure I do. Most of the authors I read are already well-known. But I'll throw something out there just so I don't feel bad. One of my favorite authors is Ray Bradbury, and even though (obviously) he's definitely well-known, I sometimes feel like he's not well-known with my generation. It's sad how many of my friends don't even recognize his name. So while I think most every avid reader knows about Bradbury, I think more should actually go and read his novels. Their amazing, at least in my opinion.

Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted over at Crazy for Books. It's a great way to meet up and find new book bloggers and one of the best memes out there too. We get a question each week and this week's is:
"What is the thing you like most about reading book blogs?  Is it the reviews, author guest posts, articles, giveaways, or something else entirely?"
My answer: This is another hard question to answer. I love all of the above, and I love seeing a person's personality come through in their posts. It's nice to see a personal touch added, so everything doesn't seem like a job as much as just having fun on their blog.

Well, I know there's probably a bunch of ya'll who don't know it, but i have a giveaway going on, and just in case you haven't signed up yet, here's the button (click on it and it'll take you to the blog post about it). It's open internationally, so go check it out! Or don't. Then I can keep the books for myself. *Insert diabolical laugh*

Ringing in the New Year Giveaway

<ahref="http://wordsandwhisperings.blogspot.com/2010/12/ringing-in-new-year-giveaway.html"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6PGBGuk0h4zkdyX16ULu4YJuLM4l5qtNan3op9Ic5pW9qD11JEZaPwt_nONyUpMznjgzctPU7yXlGZFQt_ytoQ9LahNv_isAHRTyPv96Pk4kbSeihrL15TgRfPTEdLH8TCi3Q3sozDg/s1600/Picture+1.png"border="0" alt="Words & Whisperings"></a>

Okay, so I was going through my blog, editing a couple of things, when I passed by my followers section. And that's when something hit me: I have 79 followers. Now, most of you are probably thinking, So? But I've been blogging for a little over 2 months, and geez, that's a lot of people. Maybe it's my immature side, but I'm totally tempted to go outside and yell that I've got almost 100 followers. So thank you, followers, for being awesome and putting up with all of my craziness. And to thank you, loyal followers, I'm going to host my very first giveaway. And since all the giveaways that blogs have been having recently are all Christmas related, this one'll be for New Year.

First off, this giveaway is going to be international. I've been looking at my stats recently, and noticed a bunch of y'alls are from other countries, and I just couldn't not have it be international. Second of all, there's going to be two winners instead of just one. Why the generosity, you ask. Well, I know how sad the idea of being that 1 out of 100 is and I wanted to be able to give two prizes away. And third of all (geez, this chick likes to talk, huh?) you can choose your prize. I'll pick two winners, and then they can email me and tell me which book they want. And yes, you can choose the same book.
--
The prizes:
(Winners will get to pick one out of the following five.)
  • Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead
  • Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen
  • Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
  • Matched by Ally Condie
  • The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller
The rules:
(I always hated rules when I was a kid. Sadly, they're still necessary)
  1. You have to be a follower to be entered
  2. You can get extra entries for blogging about this contest, putting the contest button or my blog button on your sidebar, or commenting on any of my review
  3. This contest is international, so as long as USPS delivers there, you're good.
So, yeah, that's it! Thanks again, amazing followers, and good luck to you! You can either fill out the form below or go here.

*Edit 12/20/30: Contest is extended until 1/30/10 due to my procrastination. Sorry for any inconveniences!
