1. The Notebook - My absolute favorite book to movie adaption. Ryan and Rachel have such chemistry,, they bring life to the story.
--
2. A Walk to Remember - Another Sparks novel. Again, the actors made the story (that fell a little flat in the book) so much more real that I liked it better than the book. I know. *gasp*
--
3. I Am Number Four - I honestly am not sure how much this has to do with Alex Prettypants being in the movie. But wow! I loved the movie. And while I think I liked the book a little better, it was still a kick-ass movie version.
--
4. Harry Potter - Basically, all of 'em. Is that cheating? Oh well. I love the movies, and I love the books, and yeah, the books are a million times better, but the movies are amazing too.
--
5. Brokeback Mountain - The movie is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the book was really different from it. Not to say the book (er, novella?) was bad, but Jake and Heath were amazingly amazing in the movie. I cry just thinking about it. Seriously, I'm that much of a wuss.
--
6. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005) - I know there are a lot of Narnia fans who hated the latest adaption of the book. But I loved it! It captured Narnia and all its magic perfectly in my opinion.
--
7. Jaws - I've never read the book, honestly. (Am I cheating again?) But nothing can compare to the cheesy, yet creepy, movie that haunted me after seeing it at the age of 5 for 2 years. I still get freaked out by seaweed at the beach.
--
8. Flowers in the Attic - I love the book series a lot more than the movie, but it's still classic. I remember secretly watching this one as a kid and giggling over the grown-up parts. I probably still would giggle...
--
9. The Lord of the Rings - Nothing compared to the books, but still good.
--
10. Twilight - Just kidding. Honestly, I liked the books, but the movie just sucked. Badly. (Sorry Twilight fans.) But I'm all out of books into movies. So there you have it, y'all.

LOVED A Walk to Remember..I forgot about that one! Darn, now I have that Mandy Moore song in my head thinking about that movie lol
Jaws is a book? I'd have to hum the theme to myself while reading it. ;)
I actually think the movie version of A Walk to Remember is better than the book.
Love the list and it seems the top 3 that are on lists are Narnia, Lord of the Rings and of course Harry Potter!!!!!
Come say hi any time

I'm not sure Brokeback mountain even counts as a novella... more a short story I guess! Also, yay Lord of the Rings! hehe
My list is here :) http://devouringtexts.blogspot.com
Great list! I loved both the Brokeback Mountain movie and novella also!

Most of these books are on my TBR list, just recently read The Notebook so I totally agree...didn't know Jaws was a book and have seen I Am Number Four on several lists so will have to look into it.
I agree with most of your list (even Twilight. I loved the books and didn't like the movies). They did an amazing job on a lot of these book to movies.
I'm starting to feel like the only blogger who has never read Nicholas Sparks, or watched the movies of his books! But I'm totally with you on LOTR and HP, as well as Narnia, even though I forgot to include it on my top ten.
Great list!
A Walk to Remember and The Notebook are great movies but I have to admit I have not yet read the books. I like your list.

I totally agree with you about Twilight. They've been getting better, but the first film was just BAD. I think casting what's-her-face as Bella was a bad move. She just looks...vapid and unappealing. I'm interested in seeing how "I Am Number Four" is. Haven't seen the movie yet, but the trailers are just cryptic enough to peak my interest.
I was in middle school when the movie Jaws came out...and I slept with the lights on for weeks afterward...now, I just laugh at it. The book is much much better...lots more in depth look at a beach community and the characters...somewhat of a different storyline as well, especially with Chief Brody's wife.
