Book Blogger Hop (2) & Follow My Book Blog Friday (1)

Book Blogger Hop

Okay, so I'm doing both the Blogger Hop & Follow Friday this week. First of all, Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer, and if you click on the logo you can go check out this awesome meme. And Follow My Book Blog Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and the logo takes you back to that great meme.

Now that I'm doing both, they have questions. So first I'll answer Book Blogger Hop's:
"If you find a book that's part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"
Well, in a word, yes. I've tried starting series in the middle and while it may work for others, I usually get confused or am left wanting more of a backstory. That being said, I definitely don't always finish a series. A lot of times I find the ending to one of the middle books to be satisfactory and ignore the following books.

Now for the Follow My Book Blog Friday question:
"What is your usual monthly book budget?"
That's a great question that I really don't have an answer for. I'm not really thrifty and I tend to buy books new instead of used, but I'd guess around sixty dollars a month. But that's more of an average, because depending on certain things, I've spent way less than that and way more. Plus, my book budget definitely goes up and down depending on how many books that I really want have come out.

Okay, so that's it. Hope you check out the rest of my blog if you're hopping by. These are most definitely my favorite weekly memes.

Hi there! Just hoppin' on by. <3 I'm a new follower! :D I just glanced at your blog, and I'm already sure I'll love it. Can't wait to peruse. <3

My book budget is $0! I'm a poor college student, so I only borrow books from the library or read in Barnes and Noble while hogging their air conditioning. :)

New follower from the hop!

You can stop in the middle of a series? I'm impressed! Unless i really, really dislike several books, I feel compelled to finish.

365 reviews in 365 days is quite an impressive goal! Good luck!

I'm a new follower from the Follow Friday Tour! You mean you haven't read The Chronicles of Narnia? Well, to be honest, I hadn't either until last year. Can't wait for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie to come out.

If you get the chance, come visit my blog: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2010/11/friday-43-days-to-christmas-omg.html

Just stopping by through Follow Friday. My book budget is so high compared to everyone else but books are very expensive in Australia since most the titles come from overseas.

I am a new follower. Check out my blog at http://irresistiblereads.blogspot.com/

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

Oh, that is a great point about starting a series, but not finishing it. There are a couple of series now that I have either dropped, or am thinking of dropping. Generally if a book ends very well, I am happy to return to the series. But, if the overall quality of the books goes down (sadly, a much more common occurrence than I'd like) then I don't feel bad about neglecting it.

Love your blog! 365 book reviews in 365 days. Wow. I've thought about doing something similar to that, but I have to be honest, if I ever did I'm sure I'd mostly be reviewing picture books, or other short kids books that I could complete quickly.
